May, 6th – Evening at FONDAZIONE ARNALDO POMODORO with sculpture technologies description and special dinner € 50,00
The Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro was established in 1995, on the artist's initiative, aiming to create a documentation and study centre for artworks, also considering some outside of his own repertoire. The Foundation’s new space, exhibition centre and workspace for art, is located in an area of Milan which is characterized by a great concentration of artistic and creative activities. The building constitutes the oldest part of the ex Riva & Calzoni complex where, since 1926, hydraulic turbines known worldwide were made, like those used at the Niagara Falls. The restoration project, developed by Cerri & Associates firm, valorized the workshop's industrial vocation, by safeguarding the structure and rethinking spaces and functions.
The building, divided into two main bodies, has a steel structure with sizable columns that provided support to the overhead cranes. There are two types of roof: one pitched over the lower section and one characterized by a shed system at the higher level. The complex, which covers about 3000 square meters, has a façade with walls in exposed face brick, decorated with a series of plastered features aligned with the steel columns on the inside. It also has large glazed openings in a sombre style, coherent with the past function of the building.
The IDTC09 social dinner will be organized against the exclusive backdrop of the Fondazione A. Pomodoro.
The welcome drink, in the form of a typical appetizer, will be followed by a guided tour of the exhibitions on display, with explanations in English. On completion of the visit a sit-down dinner will be served with a three course menu. The space will be set aside exclusively for the IDTC09 event.
